Almost all home, barn and garage packages from PMHI feature engineered roof trusses designed and fabricated by PMHI. The only exception to this are some Chalet packages that feature a combination of rafters and roof trusses. The advantages of building a structure with roof trusses are speed of construction, design flexibility, and assurance that your roof system was specifically designed for the loads (snow loads, etc) of the location that your home will be built.
The terms below are typically used to describe the various parts of a metal plate connected wood truss...the type built by PMHI. The truss profile, span, heel height, overall height, overhang and web configuration depend on the specific design conditions and will vary by application.
Roof Truss Types & Terms

The pitched or common roof truss is characterized by its triangular shape. It is the most common roof truss configuration.
Some common trusses are named according to their web configuration, such as the King Post, Fan, Fink or Howe truss.
The chord size and web configuration are determined by span, load, and spacing.
All truss designs are optimized to provide the most economical application.
